Pt. Lookout POW Descendants 2008 Pilgrimage
It’s been a long time coming – but we did it!!
All Confederate ~ All Day
September 6, 2008

Each year, we the descendants, make our annual pilgrimage to Point Lookout, MD to the hallow grounds where over 52,000 of our family were imprisoned and over 14,000 died, between 1863-1865. We make this pilgrimage to mourn our dead, present a memorial tribute in their name, present a living history with a prison portrayal and have our descendants' meeting. In addition this year, we will be dedicating Confederate Memorial Park!

If your CSA related group would like to set up in our living history area, please contact us at info@plpow.com for a form. This would include small Confederate enampments of: infantry, cavalry, navy, marine, zouaves and home guard; first person portrayals of medics, civilians and historical persons of this time period; historical and heritage displays, vendors and sutlers. There is no fee to setup; however, we do request that you make a financial contribution of your choice to Confederate Memorial Park. Registration deadline in May 31, 2008.

Floral Wreath: If you or your organization would like to present a floral wreath, please send an email to plpow@verizon.net to have your name placed on the presentation list. Include your or your organization's name and who the floral tribute is in memory of.

HONORING AMERICAN POW VETERANS OF PT. LOOKOUT

Saturday, September 6th:

Family day in Confederate Memorial Park

Displays from heritage, historical and civic organizations. Vendors, authors on site, re-enactors, encampments and our own POW living history! Our living history provides many areas of interest. This is a Family Day at Confederate Memorial Park. We also encourage all local school and scout groups to visit and learn more about Maryland's historical significance during the War of Northern Aggression and especially the role that St. Mary's County played during a divisive era of turmoil in our country.

Back by popular demand! The Brunswick County SCV boys will be cooking their famous homemade brunswick stew! Bring your appetite! If you can't eat it all there, there will be pints and quarts for purchasing to take home!
Striblings Battery will be giving our cannon dedication salute. They will also be giving artillery demos in the living history area as well as reenacting a historically accurate prison exchange of their men who were in Pt. Lookout!

Capt. Vincent Camalier SCV Camp #1359

Will have a display showing pictures/info on local Confederate Veterans. This should especially be of interest to local Marylanders. Commander Rob Long invites everyone to stop by and visit their display and learn how you can join this prestigious descendant organization and help preserve Maryland's history! Also, be sure to check out the times that they will be conducting cemetery tours! Here you will learn the history of the 85' federal monument, the history of the smaller state monument , about the mass grave (moved 3 times before ending there), about their camp being the guardian of the prisoners' flag that's not allowed in the cemetery and much more.
